Researchers are continuing to learn day by day how different auto-immune diseases can be found within early stages.
It was recently found that the immature cells found in the pancreas, causing diabetes, can be determined early on with different types of signals. With this discovery it is now known that these cells are affected by their immediate environment.
Scientists are now working on research to build new cells to combat these immature ones. These cells will be built from pluripotent stem cells.
Within the article Dr. Semb states, “We have now been able to map the signal that determines whether pancreatic progenitor cells will become endocrine, such as insulin-producing beta cells or duct cells,”. With due time, it appears more and more diseases will be treatable.
